Top 10 Songs For Your Christmas Playlist | Collaboration With Emma Blether

Today’s post is written in collaboration with Emma from emmablether.com. We have worked together for a few weeks to get our first Christmas post of the season written for you! We have compiled a very festive playlist that you can be listening to throughout the month. It’s been really difficult to only choose five favourite Christmas songs each but I am pretty confident in my final decisions! Let us know in the comments what would be at the top of your Christmas playlist. I hope you enjoy our collaboration and make sure to check out Emma’s blog and really pretty Instagram!

Erin’s Top Five

Do They Know It’s Christmas? (Feed The World) – Band Aid

What can I say? This song features in the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special. It will always have a special place in my heart – not only because it features in my favourite sitcom but because it has such a lovely message. I sing my heart out at the ‘feed the world’ part! It’s a good song to put on your party playlist.

Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee

Something about this song reminds me of my earlier Christmasses. When I was 8 or 9 my old school teacher used to play it in the classroom. It was a great time.

Last Christmas – Wham!

This song is the anthem for Christmas! As soon as it comes around to December I’m immediately playing this on my CD player. Does anyone else own one or is it just me? I feel quite old-fashioned, even though I got mine only a few years ago!

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day – Wizzard

I don’t know about you, but in my primary school we had a Christmas ‘party day’ on the last day before we broke up. This song used to be played in assembly (oh sweet memories) and the reason I have it on the playlist is because of the nostalgia I attach to it. The years that I believed in Santa (which were in primary school) were the best Christmasses of my life! I would love to have that same old magic reignited.

Step Into Christmas – Elton John

Christmas playlists in the supermarket are always the best! This song is often included on that playlist. I love Elton John’s voice but also the lyrics signal the start of the Christmas season for me. The fast tempo makes me want to get up and dance – so I would also add this to your party playlist. You might even get your grandparents up on their feet!

Emma’s Top Five

Jingle Bell Rock – Crooners & Divas

Okay, so Jingle Bell Rock is one of my favourite Christmas songs because it gives me serious Mean Girl vibes. If you haven’t seen Mean Girls then you should definitely watch it! Though it isn’t a Christmas film, you could 100% watch it this holiday.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – Michael Buble

I love this song! It’s a slower Christmas song but I find it so calming and it reminds me of many happy Christmas memories.

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus – Jimmy Boyd

This song reminds me of when I was younger and we would listen to so many Christmas songs on a CD while putting the Christmas tree up! (it’s become a bit of traditon now!)

Merry Christmas Everyone – Shakin’ Stevens

It’s such a classic Christmas song! A really good one to get up and dance to.

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard

Both Erin and I agree that this a hit Christmas song. For both of us it’s a song with childhood memories. I remember belting this out with my friends at a primary school Christmas party! (primary school parties were the best haha)

Thank you so much for reading our collaboration! It’s the first in many of this month from me. It’s been a real pleasure to work with Emma so I’d like to thank her so much, for fitting me in among all of her really important GCSE revision! Please wish her the best of luck for her mocks this month 😊
I hope that you have a really great December (especially now that you have an awesome playlist for it 😉)

Ukelele | Learning Something New

I just came across an old ukulele. My older brother used this for lessons when he was in Year 4 (8 years old). It has stickers on for the chords so that will help me. I’m going to tune it, learn to play it and start singing with my hand gently strumming across the four strings.

This is what summer is for: learning something new. Even though nylon strings aren’t made for vigorous practise, I’ll just have to make do.

Having a broad range of instruments that you can play is really good! I’m currently learning cello (the instrument I most passionate about) but I am teaching myself keyboard. Now we have another addition to the family,

Ukelele.

I look forward to the blood, sweat and tears you will put me through.

Summer Playlist + Some Weird One Direction (Fangirl) Confessions

This summer is going to be packed full of trips and I will want a playlist to listen to on the many road trips between destinations. I tried to keep it short? 😂

Most of these songs have a backstory on how they came to be part of my life (yep, you can cringe. Music is just so awesome though). Some of them I have discussed, but some are too weird and personal to share – but I do write about a few embarrassing ones.

Amarillo Tony Christie

This song holds a special place in my heart. I can’t remember the first time I listened to this song, so it must have been a while ago. With me going to Menorca (a Spanish speaking island) I think it would be quite fitting!

Late Nite – The Strokes

Breakfast At Tiffany’sDeep Blue Something

I can’t really explain how many memories this song gives me. I’ve only listened to it in good parts of my life, so there’s no nostalgia held to its name!

Hall Of FameThe Script

Rain – The Script

ParklifeBlur.

This song is so… British. I love the dialogue used in the beginning.

Pretty Shining People and ParadiseGeorge Ezra

Ezra’s new (not so new anymore) album: Staying At Tamara’s is a hit for me. I love every single song in it, though my favourites are these two.

TroublemakerOlly Murs

Somebody Told Me – The Killers

Mr Brightside – The Killers

Not only is this an indie anthem, it is also a song that was played on repeat at my summer Scout camp last year. There was this open-air stage that was emitting music from 9:00am until 23:00 every day. I am so blessed. Some of this was live music as well!

ImagineJohn Lennon

Great message. Great man.

Are You Gonna be My Girl – Jet

Mr. Blue SkyElectronic Light Orchestra

I wasn’t one of those people who got obsessed with this song after its participation in Guardians of the Galaxy. I have always had a connection with this song. Maybe I was in primary school when I heard for the first time? Maybe even before that?

My Summer Bucketlist 2019

Hello, welcome back to my blog!

I don’t know if you are aware of the American Youtuber: Haley Pham. A couple of weeks ago she released a video called ‘My Summer Bucketlist’ and I was really intrigued. She complied a list, in her bullet journal, of what she wanted to do with her long summer break. I actually have a couple of weeks left of school so my list will not be as long. Also, I am very busy in August time so that’s nearly a month gone. Still, there are a few things I am eager to do this holiday.

1. Go to a theme park (with a friend)

There is a theme park near me that I have not attended in my whole life. This may be an expensive one, but I would really love to go. Hopefully, with a friend who knows their way around 😂 as many of them do!

2. Camp in the garden

This one is quite achievable. A tent, books and board games! I’d definitely do one night solo and then another with a friend.

This photo is totally unrelated but I wanted to use it somewhere 😂

3. Go on a few evening bike rides

They are my favourite thing to do when the weather is warmer. Hopefully I’ll manage to do a few of them before I head off to all my Guide camps and Menorca!

Monthly Playlist | June (Collaboration With Maryam @ infinitelyadaydreamer)

Despite playing the cello, I am obsessed with Indie Rock music. You would expect a classical instrumentalist to enjoy the likes of Beethoven but my favourite bands are Arctic Monkeys and The Vaccines. Today I am sharing with you my favourite modern Indie tunes which I have been listening to this month!

This post has been written in collaboration with my blogging friend, Maryam. The posts on infinitelyadaydreamer consist of thoughtful articles on social problem/debates, very aesthetic lifestyle posts and weekly motivation! I hope you can go and check out the music post she wrote on her blog.

Now, let’s get in with the playlist!

Holy Mountain [Explicit] – Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

I didn’t have very high expectations for this album. Nothing can beat the original Oasis, but Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are so good!

Are You Gonna Be My Girl – Jet

Let us just appreciate the guitar skills in this song 👏

Chelsea Dagger – The Fratellis

*starts bouncing up and down on the bed* I love the vocals in this. It’s a proper ‘band’ song, if you get what I mean?
