Top 10 Blogging Goals For The Future | Finding Inspiration & Engaging With My Passions

I’ve had a burning desire to get back to the keyboard ever since I announced a ‘break’ last Sunday. Although a break would probably be beneficial for me, my mind is buzzing with ideas and I don’t want this motivation to be wasted. Today I woke up late, around 7:30am, with no spark in my step at all. Instead of yoga I wanted to crack straight on because I was already a little late.

Head over to my Instagram for more cute cat photos like this one!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my cat. However while I was washing my face she decided to walk all over my white sheets with her wet, muddy paws. I returned from the bathroom to see my unmade bed soaked through with a guilty looking cat sat in the middle. She got the sign and decided to leave… sorry Pikachu. Then I washed my sheets and tidied my room a bit. You might say boring. But I have a feeling that if you’ve been reading my blog for this long then you might care about my pets.

Despite such an unplanned morning, my day was awesome. I love every second of it! I also had the idea to start a project… which is coming soon. This inspiration has grabbed hold of me and I don’t want to fight it. Passion is one of those complicated emotions that tires you and excites you all at once.

So, what is this post going to be? I hear you ask.

My list of goals for the future of my blog:

  1. Launch the project!
  2. Spend half an hour catching up on my reader every day.
  3. Follow 10 new blogs a month.
  4. Update my Instagram story consistently!
  5. Post on Instagram to a schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
  6. Get better at promoting my blog though Instagram.
  7. Reply to comments more efficiently.
  8. Enjoy the writing process.
  9. Copy and paste all of my blog posts into a huge Pages document so that when the Internet dies they’ll all be safe (I’ve started on this already)
  10. Write more book reviews

That’s all my blogging goals for now! Don’t want to have an immensely long list otherwise I’ll feel intimidated.

What are your blogging goals? Are there any good blogging habits you have got into?

Loads of love,

The Hustler Blogger Award | Why I Started Blogging, My Inspiration & Favourite Bloggers

It has been such a while since I was nominated for this award that I have completely forgotten who nominated me! Whoever it was I’d like to thank very much. From the questions I can already anticipate that this will be an interesting post.

Rules

1. Include the banner in your award post.

2. Be sure to give the creator credit (markanthonyswall.wordpress.com) so he will be able to read them.

3. You can nominate no less than 5 bloggers, but more if you choose.

4. Answer the questions

5. The person who’s being nominated can add one more question of his/her choice to his/her nominees.

Questions

  • Why did you start a blog?

They are many people who got their inspiration from right where I did: Zoella. From reading her books a few years ago I was very intrigued by the idea of having an online platform to share my writing. Since I was a very small child I’ve always enjoyed the process of writing books, poems songs and anything creative. Having somewhere to share my writing really excited me!

  • What/who inspired you to do it?

As I mentioned in the previous question, it was definitely Zoe Sugg and her books. Although I don’t make any content similar to Zoella, just that initial idea of sharing my thoughts was the inspiration. Since then I’ve found a lot of inspiration through YouTube, bookstagram, Pinterest and other people’s stories.

  • What motivates you to keep pushing and creating content and make your site alive?

The idea of giving up on something really scares me. Even if at points I am not enjoying blogging, I will push through until that spark is reignited again. If I were to take a break, I may never return. So what really motivates me to keep going is failure. I know that taking a break isn’t failure but to me it seems so. I’ve always had that mentality. It may not be healthy but it does help me sometimes! And of course, flicking through my reader always help me to stay motivated. That leads us on nicely to the next question:

  • Who are your fave bloggers? And how do they urge you to grow as well?

Okay, so there are a lot to choose from. However, if I were to make this answer as concise as possible, I’d have to list these five beautiful people:

Maryam @ Infinitely A Day Dreamer

Sophie @ Sophie’s Corner

Pooja @ Life’s Fine Whine

Gracie @ A Light In The Darkness

Zoe @ Zoe Ware

Their blogs always provide me with post ideas for my own blog. Sophie has especially inspired me over the last couple of weeks! What is even more special is the fact that they will always take time to reply to your comments and engage with your account too. That is what I find really important about the blogosphere: there will always be someone out there to help and encourage you.

  • What lesson/s have you learned through your experience?

I don’t suppose I have learned many ‘lessons’ as such, however I can definitely give advice! Such as replying to your comments, keeping to a schedule and remembering that it’s just a hobby – you don’t need to spend ages and ages of time on each post! I’m slightly perfectionistic but blogging has taught me to care less. No-one sits there analysing the structure of each and every sentence.

  • Has blogging brought impact to you as a person? If yes, what are these?

Ooh, I don’t know if it has or not! It’s really hard to identify what factor has impacted your change of style, aesthetic and interests. Through consumption of blogs I may have changed up some parts of my life, however I can’t pin-point what these are. In a way, yes. But I wouldn’t know unless I had never blogged in the first place! (that sounds like nonsense – does any one understand those last few sentences?)

  • Not everyone is confident enough to start a blog. What advice can you give them?

I’m not confident within myself, so I began an anonymous blog. There’s nothing to be afraid of if no one is aware of who you are behind the screen! Of course I don’t mean to encourage catfishing, but instead just hiding little parts of your identity that you’re not ready to share yet. If you’re not confident to start a blog, perhaps it isn’t the right thing for you. If you do have a passion, however, don’t be scared of sharing it. People will hear you. There is so much encouragement awaiting you! There may be set-backs, a few nasty comments here and there, but there is much more love in the blogosphere. Don’t be afraid – this little community is awesome!

  • Give 3 facts about you as a blogger (strengths or flaws)

Trying to stay positive, I’ll mention three strengths. We need some self-love in the air!

  • I’m good at writing post way before they are scheduled.
  • I’ve not missed a single day of upload in about two years (three times a week!)
  • I have found an editing style on VSCO which works for almost all of my photos.
  • Drop down your blog post which you are most proud of (together with the link so we can read it)

Usually I stick to awards, tags and ‘list’ posts however this one was a bit different – I talked about yoga. Just a small little rant about what I enjoy about yoga! You all seemed to love it which was quite a shock. We have smaller attention spans by the day so I wasn’t at all expecting so much love on a chatty post. You can read it here.

  • Do you think you’ll love meeting all the bloggers you got to know in the blogosphere?

Wouldn’t it be nice to see all of the people you interact with online? I don’t think I could meet you all at once since I get drained by social situations, but it would be cool to meet little groups at a time. Beginning with my little UK friends, then branching out to Europe, America, Australia and Canada! I would love to meet you all, but I don’t think you’d want to met me haha since I’ve not revealed my face to the blog yet. I promise you I’m a teenage girl, not a random alien trying to steal your information then cause an invasion.

And now, let’s get on to the post!

  • Nominate at least five bloggers and inform them of their nomination.
  • Give them ten new questions to answer

Sophie’s Questions

  • What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Talking to all of my readers is definitely one of the highlights. You’re all so incredibly inspiring! Every comment I receive gives such a buzz of excitement. Even after doing it for so long, the rewards of speaking with you don’t get old.

  1. When did you start your blog?

KittyJade has been running for almost three years, which I can’t fully understand. It was created on 23rd April 2017, inspired heavily by Zoe Sugg and her book series: Girl Online.

  1. What is your current favourite song?

My favourite at the minute is either ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice?’ by The Beach Boys or ‘Canyon Moon’ by Harry Styles.

  1. What is your favourite food?

This is such a hard question, there are way too many foods to choose from. I’m torn between crackers and bananas…

  1. When is your favourite season?

Spring is my favourite, though it changes so often. Usually spring has a good mix of rainy days and sunshine, though lately it’s felt like summer!

  1. What is your star sign?

I’m a Virgo, which means I have pure intentions and like to please people. Some parts of that are true, though I definitely lose it with people from time to time!

  1. Would you rather be rich or famous?

Though I don’t particularly want to be rich, I’d definitely chose it over fame. This blog is quite small, which is partly why I enjoy it. I’ve never been in a situation where I don’t have enough time to speak with you, my lovely followers! If I was to grow big, I’d still want to interact with my followers as much as possible. Plus, money can be used in all sorts of ways. Most importantly, I can donate to a charity!

  1. Who are your favourite bloggers?

I have so many! Sophie, the person who nominated me, is definitely one of my favourites. Grace Ariya, Neve, Maryam, Gracie Chick and Caz to name a few! But I’ll make sure to put all my favourite bloggers into a post for you, so you can give them the love they deserve.

  1. What was the last movie you watched?

On my dad’s birthday, the family sat down to watch Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl. Honestly, I don’t really watch movies. Unless it’s a social occasion, I’ll stick to books!

  1. What is the most challenging thing about blogging?

One thing I struggle with is taking photos for my posts. I’m not a perfectionist as such, but I want the best for my blog so it takes me a lot of time! Other than that, I’d say blogging is quite easy. As I enjoy it so much, I’ve not realised how much work goes in. I love every single second!

My Questions

(sorry for using some of your’s Sophie, but they were so fun to answer!)

  1. Why did you start a blog?
  2. Do you do anything alongside blogging? (YouTube, Instagram, small business etc)
  3. How long do you spend blogging per day?
  4. How many times do you post per week, and on what days?
  5. What do you enjoy the most about blogging?
  6. Who are your favourite YouTubers?
  7. What artist are you listening to most at the moment?
  8. What’s your favourite album?
  9. What book have you recently finished?
  10. What book are you reading now?

My Nominees

What I’m Up To This Summer | Ft. A Lot Of Rambling

It’s now official, I’ve ended school for the summer! I would like to share with you some plans I have for the future of this blog, my plans for the holidays and other random things you need to know.

Blog

This summer I’ll be redesigning my blog. There will be no change to the name or site address, though the layout with go through a few rearrangements. This is due to my post topics changing. I used to blog all about philosophy and poems. There will still be some of that, but less often. I feel like voicing my opinions takes a lot to try and make it less controversial. I don’t like creating drama!

Most readers are aware that I am now blogging more about books and travel. This topic has reached a broader audience and I’ve made some really good blogging friends through the subject.

Another thing I would like to cover in this post is Bookstagram. I’m not sure how I feel about restarting my Instagram feed because I have some really successful posts. What I may do is private my account for a week whilst I create a new theme and start posting. I currently have lots of landscapes in my feed and I wonder if I should post them just on my blog, and not through another platform. I’ve experimented with bookstagram this past month and the community is so lovely! I do not want to give it up but I do need some more practise.

I find it hard to keep up with my story sometimes, though. Some days I have a lot to show but some days I have nothing. This means I have lack of engagement. Though statistics don’t bother me, I love reaching out to other people.

Edit: my Bookstagram is up and running! I have a new theme that I have been posting to every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Travel

  • At the end of July I will be going on camp with my Scout group. This camp lasts for a week.
  • I’ll also be going to Llandudno again. I went earlier in the year and I have a record of it here!
  • In August I will be going to Menorca, and island at the south of Spain.

All of my travel will be recorded and posted on this blog a couple of weeks after the trip 😊 I’m looking forward to be writing a travel diary again. I haven’t travelled much in this last month so there have been no records for a while…

Books

I haven’t set any book reading goals for the holidays though I have nearly reached my yearly target! I set a goal of fifty books and never knew I’d get quite so far through it. This year has sparked a new motivation for reading a lot more!

My Bucketlist

I have a post for my bucket list here and am hoping to achieve most of them. It would be really rewarding to have them all ticked off by the end of August!

Why You Should Start a Blog (2 Year Bloggiversary!)

Today I have a bonus post, to celebrate exactly 2 years of blogging. I would like to share with you my motivations that got me started on this blogging journey, and why you should start yours (if you haven’t already!).

April 23rd, 2017

Hello World!

I started my blog a few months after reading the Girl Online series and only a second after watching Zoella’s YouTube channel. I have always loved Zoe Sugg (or at least what she puts on the internet) and her blog inspired me to create my own! At the start of April 2017, I was reading blogs and getting ideas of what mine could be about. In the beginning it was all a mess of ‘wannabe lifestyle’ and weird extracts of unfinished novels. 2017 was the year of experiments and I luckily got the chance to collaborate with a range of bloggers, including Lorelei Joy’s magazine.

Why You Should Start A Blog

  1. To showcase your talent! Any hobby can be channelled through blogging. Whether that be DIY, gymnastics or YouTube. You will find that a blog can boost your internet career.
  2. It’s free! Your blog can be free unless you want to start a business. However, if you start blogging with WordPress, a business account can be quite inexpensive (compared to self-hosted blogs).
  3. It’s better to be blogging than mindlessly scrolling. When I write a blog post, I feel productive!
  4. Find internet friends. I have an internet friend, and, though our friendship didn’t start through blogging, it helped us find each other on Instagram and Snapchat. Now we can communicate daily, and fast, rather than through email!
  5. It pushes your mental strengths to the limits. It takes a lot to schedule and write posts for your audience every day, week or month. 2018 was a bit hit or miss with content. I’d have a block of motivation, then a block of demotivation. This is why scheduling helps a lot! You can spread out your ‘motivated’ content so that when it comes to that time when you don’t feel motivated, you are still putting out content for your viewers.

Things To Consider

Blogging isn’t just writing a post and publishing it:

1. Expect a couple of sleepless nights when you are full of motivation and need to write it down.

2. Also, be aware that people are going to find out. People that you know, people from school are going to find out about your blog. You may think: cool, I’ll get more readers, but that isn’t how it works. People are going to judge you, make mean comments and you have got to be prepared for it! Usually they do this because they are jealous. Don’t let it drag you down.

3. It takes a lot of time to perfect you web-design, write posts, schedule into the future and respond to other blogs. Be ready to give up your free time to work at your blog. In a future post maybe I’ll speak about my blogging routine, but make sure you create some time every day (or a block of time once a week) for you blog. Otherwise you will not grow, and that would be a shame 😊

4. You will not be certain of your audience straight away. Mess around with genres of writing and themes of posts. Soon you will find something you enjoy blogging about. Grow your audience from what you like writing, rather than writing what your audience wants! (it sounds quite controversial, but I hope you understand what I mean).

5. Don’t feel forced to break an anonymity barrier or to show your face. I like being anonymous. You know my name but I think I’ll leave it there! 😂 (my inner introvert is speaking)

Thanks for reading! This post may not be enough to get you to start blogging, but hopefully it will inspire you.

Did you enjoy this bonus post?
