April Bullet Journal Set-Up | Exciting New Video!

Instead of the usual chatty blog post, this month I decided to share my bullet journal set-up in a video. I hope to do more of this in the future… possibly every month? You can see the video on IGTV here.

For those of you who can’t get on to Instagram, here’s a little summary:

This month’s theme is large, pink flowers. I decided it on a whim, not particular thinking about its correlation with the month of April. It was very easy to draw and I did so while watching Miranda! I absolutely adore that show. Instead of using the traditional bullet journal ‘hand-lettering’, I went for this bold bubble letter font.

My calendar spread was kept simple and, for those of you recreating, the squares are 6×6 dots. I like this page to be functional so I don’t busy it with lots of doodles. Again, I used the bold font and bright flowers for the background.

Now, I don’t usually do these trackers. However I do have more time and hopefully I’ll keep up with it! My goals for this months are working out, yoga, reading 100+ pages a day, practising my cello, less than an hour on my phone and writing.

On the left of this I have my ‘book’s read’ spread. Hopefully I’ll fill the whole page up, motivating me to start writing reviews again. This past month I have been in a reading slump and it was super hard to get out of. But now I’m reading more, hopefully I can push out more reviews for you! I love reading them but haven’t written one in a long time.

That’s it for this month! I decided to keep it nice and simple (hopefully attainable) because I have a bad history of never filling in habit trackers or book charts etc. Thank you so much for reading, and watching if you can. I really appreciate the support I’ve received on my first video. Let me know in the comments if you liked it, and I’ll be sure to do more.

What are your goals for April? What amazing things did you achieve in March?

Top 5 Shows To Watch In Quarantine

Though reading and doing our work would be a productive way of spending time in quarantine, we all can’t fight the urge to watch telly sometimes. Recently I’ve been in a slump. Not just because of what’s gig on, but other personal life events this year that have really taken a toll on things. I kept saying to myself ‘tomorrow can be my new start’ but then another hurdle was thrown down, and I tripped over it. To distract myself from these worries, I like to watch telly and do some knitting. No – it’s not a cool thing for a teenager to do. But it’s better for my mind than mindlessly scrolling through Snapchat and watching cake videos (lol that is actually my life).

Here are my top 5 things to watch when you’re down (all on BBC iPlayer because I don’t have Netflix):

5) Mrs. Brown’s Boys

Nothing beats a bit of comedy, and I can watch these again and again without tiring from the jokes. My parents says it’s absolute rubbish but I really love it. And they don’t film new series’ anymore, so the subject matter of the episodes are all a few years behind. It’s better than mentioning the C word!

4) Miranda

You guessed it, another comedy. My mum, brother and I used to watch these a lot when we were too young to understand the jokes. Now I’m older, I watch it for a bit of nostalgia but mainly a laugh (out loud, and I must sound insane to my brother who thinks I’m laughing at nothing)

3) Call The Midwife

I recently got obsessed with this show! I don’t binge-watch, which means I have a good couple of hours of entertainment still to watch. The episodes are a healthy hour long and I usually get so wrapped up in it that I abandon the knitting and just stare blankly.

2) Gavin & Stacey

It’s not often that this gets put second on a list of favourites! I love Gavin & Stacey, though when I first got into it I watch the episodes three times over and sort of spoilt it for myself? Really wish I could have retained myself from binge-watching but it’s just so good! I highly recommend to anyone. From the outside it looks like trash, but when you get into it it’s like a black hole. O’right Stace, wha’s occurin’? Anyone for an omelette? (poor old Gwen, she never gets the spotlight)

1) Doctor Who

It is not possible to describe my love for this TV programme. I’m utterly in love, and have been since I was 3 or younger (can’t remember much from back then). But my childhood, and my continuing childhood, is always centred around this basis of my Whovian-ism. It’s just amazing, and a perfect distraction from anything you’re worrying about. I watched it a lot when I felt down, but that doesn’t deter me from feeling so happy at the sound of ‘woo-wee-woo, woo-wee-woo’. In fact, after writing this I’m going to start watching from the beginning.

Do you use TV as a distraction from your worries? What shows are you enjoying at the moment? What do you do when watching telly?

The Mystery Blogger Award | Thoughts On Peanut Butter & Does Ice-Cream Belong In A Cup Or Cone?

Thank you so much Arabella for allowing me to take part in this tag (even though I wasn’t nominated, I just wanted to answer the questions haha). If you are not familiar with the blog Sparks Of Ara, please check it out after reading this post. She posts a wide range of content and always interacts with her followers.

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  2. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  3. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well. (This award was created by Okoto Enigma.)
  4. Answer the 5 questions you were asked.
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  6. Nominate 10-20 people.
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs. (I decided to link to each of my nominees’ most recent posts instead.)
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question.
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)

Arabella’s Questions

  1. What are your top girl and boy names?

Grace, Alexandra and Phoebe for a girl then Sam, Tom and Noah for a boy (I know they’re basic, but I just love those names!)

  1. If you could speak, read, and write any language fluently, what language would you choose?

At the moment I’m learning French, and one day I hope to be completely fluent in it. However Spanish would also be good as it is such a widely spoken language!

Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

  1. What are your thoughts on peanut butter?

I love peanut butter, but I rarely have it because of the palm oil in it. As a treat I might buy the sustainable peanut butter but it costs too much to have in a weekly shop! I generally use peanut butter on toast or in baking. Unfortunately I don’t understand the hype of PBNJ. It’s just too chewy for me.

  1. Do you prefer ice cream in a cup or cone?

This quite an interesting one! I used to never eat the cone however now I love it. It’s also better for the planet than having a cup with a plastic spoon. Waffle cones are overpriced but they’re certainly by favourite. What about you?

  1. Favourite meal food?

I’m not sure I entirely understand this question, but I love soup!  It’s a great meal to use up vegetables in the fridge that are almost past it. You can always reheat soup anytime and save it in the freezer for later. I love having soup piping hot with plenty of bread!

Three Things About Me

  1. I’m cat-obsessed and see myself being a crazy cat lady in the future.
  2. One of my ambitions is to travel the world. This summer my family planned to internal around Italy but unfortunately that’s not happening now.
  3. At the moment I’m behind with my Goodreads goal. That’s very unusual for me because I’m normally two books ahead of schedule!

Anyone would like to do this tag is completely welcome to! If you are interested, here are the questions I would like you to answer:

  1. When did you begin your blog?
  2. What’s your favourite aspect of blogging?
  3. How many posts do you publish per week?
  4. What’s your favourite topic to write about?
  5. If you were a biscuit, what would you be?

My Favourite Post

Out of my most recents, I love “These Aren’t Your Regular Self-Care Tips”. It was very well-received by all of you!

Thank you so, so much for reading! I would love to hear your answers to my questions! Remember to tag me in the post if you do.

If you were a biscuit/cookie, which one would you be?

Top 7 Favourite YouTubers | Humour, Studying, Books & More

While searching around for post ideas, I stumbled across a post from Sophie’s Corner all about her favourite YouTubers! As I spend a lot of time (too much, really!) on YouTube, I thought it would be a suitable post to share with you today.

Most of the people I watch are to lift my spirits. A few years ago, all I watched was lifestyle and ‘self-improvement’ videos. These only made me feel more guilty for my bad habits, so I stopped watching them all together. We all sub-conciously compare ourselves to these well-edited influencers, and that has such a negative impact on our mental health. By cutting out these perfect people, I was comparing myself less and consequently feeling happier. I don’t mean to complain because these Influencers are doing very well for themselves! It’s just my personal health that would benefit from not having this ‘perfect’ life being lived all around me.

Hope that after this post you go on to watch these YouTubers I so know and love!

Ruby posts lots of studying and bookish related content. Her videos are very wholesome and really bring me down to Earth, especially the vlogs in which she simply appreciates the world around her! Her niche is very ‘studytube’ though there is a wide variety. Some recipes dotted here and there, book recommendations and reviews, plus lots of vlogs!

I admire this woman. She is currently studying at university though last year she took a gap year and went interrailing around Europe. Her consistent effort always shows through, and in her travel vlogs you can see the obstacles no-one ever mentions. For an aspiring solo-backpacker, I believe her honest content will really help me if I begin that journey one day! Jade also encouraged me to try yoga, a habit I began recently and have since stuck with!

Grace is so underrated! Her videos are of top quality and her humour is admirable! As a bakery student, she also provides a lot of baking content (which of course I love, because I’m an avid baker myself). The video styles and ideas are very original, but she also covers topics that are prominent in the news. On ExtraGrack she posts vlogs, which are all a bit random but so relatable and funny!

You’ll get sucked in… Taz never fails to make me laugh out loud! Though she is quite well-known, that does not distract her from the goals of having a house and ‘always getting the bargains’. I find her content uplifting as well as entertaining. Her channel really shows growth! From poetry to comedy, anxiety to humour, foolish to wise. It’s really worth giving her a watch.

The inspiration for this blog will never be eliminated from my most watched. I love Zoe’s vlogs and watching her very lavish lifestyle. But while having all this fame, she does also have a bubbly personality and great honesty with her viewers.

I feel great pleasure to not only call Grace an amazing YouTuber, but also a friend. We both keep in touch via Instagram however her videos have such a professional touch that I hardly believe it’s just a 16 year old girl in her bedroom! The videos are of top quality, sharing things all of us want to see: studying tips, clean with me’s, room transformations and baking! It’s a great combination of lifestyle videos that are always upbeat. Please go and support her YouTube channel and check out her Instagram!

Adriene guides me through my daily yoga practise, so she also makes it on to the list of my favourite YouTubers. Without her videos, I’d be performing yoga like a sack of potatoes! Please check out her channel if you’re considering trying out yoga from home. You don’t need a mat or any other special equipment. I do it in my pyjamas as soon as I role out of bed!

Big thank you to Sophie for being the source of inspiration for this post! If you are not familiar with Sophie’s Corner, please check out her blog andInstagram. They are both brimming with quality content! Including a post just like this (Sophie’s Favourite YouTuber’s post is linked here).

Hope you’re all having a lovely day!

Do you watch YouTube? Who are your favourite creators, and what sort of content do they produce?

The Perfect Morning Routine | Books, Skincare & Yoga!

As my night routine post was so successful, I decided to a morning routine as well! The morning is my favourite time of day. I try to make this most of the early hours, and I usually achieve the routine in this post 6 times a week. For some reason Thursdays are never great for my productivity. Does any one else have a day like that? No matter how hard you try, it just never works out? Let me know in the comments.

1. Yoga

If it doesn’t happen in the morning, it doesn’t happen at all. That’s why I do this first thing! Usually the sessions are about half an hour long, which is perfect. Through yoga my body can fully wake up before I get on with other tasks. Also, after sleeping for eight hours, I certainly need a stretch! You can read more about my daily yoga practise here.

2. Skincare routine

It’s really important to have a skincare routine. When I wake up, I cleanse my face then use moisturiser with SPF. However the evening is a little bit different! I won’t go through this now though, because I just uploaded a whole post about my skincare routine!

3. Breakfast

Without breakfast, I start snacking throughout the day. My go-to breakfast is porridge but I do have lots of other recipes! While eating I enjoy reading. It’s a more positive experience than watching the news! Currently I’m reading The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken.

4. Duolingo

I don’t touch screens until an hour after I wake up. And after breakfast and yoga, it’s usually 7am. Which means I can practise my languages! At the moment I’m doing French et c’est tres facile cependent les verbes sont difficiles! J’adore français.

5. Post on Instagram

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I spend about ten minutes posting to Instagram and catching up on your lovely comments! Doing this at the start of the day motivates me to be productive. And your kind words always bring a smile to my face ☺️

6. Do one thing from my to-do list

This could be writing a blog post, practising my cello or even doing homework. But ticking something off my to-do list close to the beginning of the day makes me quite happy! And once one thing is ticked off, I just want to carry on.

7. Bunnies

They deserve a cuddle every morning!

8. Head off for my day

At the weekends I might go for a walk or have a drama rehearsal. On the days where I have nothing planned, I try to get myself out. Being inside all day really isn’t good for me! Even though I might want to stay in bed, the best thing for both my mental and physical health is getting outdoors. Some days I have a load of homework so I’ll take myself to the library to do it.

Thank you for reading this post! I’m sorry for the dominating pronoun being ‘me’ and ‘I’. So in the comments, let me know what you do in the mornings.

Is there anything you can’t miss in your routine? How do you prepare yourself for a busy day?

Hope you’re all well, whether you had a good or bad morning!
