Good Reading Habits Tag | Mood Reading, Small TBR & Unnecessary Bookish Items

Upon discovering a few new blogs, I also discovered this tag on Book Princess Reviews. Though I wasn’t nominated, I felt a bit cheeky and decided to do it anyways. The month is a bit of inbetween season so I’m sorry for the lack of interesting posts. It’s too early to get excited for Christmas but I am thinking up some creative ideas for that season anyways… oops. The Good Reading Habits Tag was created to bring recognition to your good reading habits – instead of what you want to improve. It’s a very positive ideas and just what I need at the moment!

Rules

Keeping A Small TBR

I’m very good at keeping my TBR small. At the moment it stands at only 22 books and most of them I will be seeking out at the library instead of buying. Having a small TBR means that I can go to library and pick up the books I want with freedom – instead of sticking to a TBR. This method works best for me because I’m a mood reader.

Finding The Cheapest Prices

If I have borrowed a book from the library and enjoyed it beyond belief (like The Hunger Games) then I will often proceed to buying it because I know I will read it again and again. I managed to find the whole trilogy undamaged in a charity shop for £3. Though this means I only ever browse in bookstores like Waterstones and WHSmith, it also means that I do not impulse buy.

I Don’t Buy ‘Bookish’ Items

Bookstagram is teeming with a hype to buy candles, stickers and various props for photos. It’s totally unnecessary and very wasteful. Though I would like my photos to look more decorated – fairy lights will do the trick. You can be a successful bookstagrammer without all of that!

My Nominees

Thank you so much for reading today’s post! Please feel welcome to participate in this tag even if I haven’t nominated you. I know that you can’t see much creativity in the past few posts but I’m really struggling for ideas that are easy to do. If you have any ideas then please leave them below and, as always, collaborations are welcome!

I hope you have a lovely November,

  1. uuuh these are great habits!! I must say I’m also proud of myself for keeping my TBR small, and I mostly stick to e-books, borrowed books, and sometimes the library because they’re cheaper! When it comes to bookstagram I really feel the pressure to get all the pretty, shiny merch but I don’t mostly because I’m broke … I like to think that even if I had the money to spare, I’d think twice before doing it 😛 Thank you so much for tagging me! I’ve actually already done this, in case you’d want to check it out! I’d do it again but I don’t have many good habits xD

    • It’s good to be positive and recognise that good things about yourself instead of the bad! I have looked at bookstagram merch before and, as well as being unnecessary, it’s really expensive too! It’s my pleasure. I should’ve checked if you had done this before aha x

  2. Cute post, you being cheeky make you sound so adorable ❤ 😀
I sucks at TBR, I add so much that it's so long now, and I barely have time to read compare to before… max 2 hours a day 😦 I'm a mood reader too so I can't stick to the same book if my feel isn't on it 💔
I don't understand why people need to buy bookish items. When I want to post bookstagram stuff I just use whatever is around me. If it's autumn and I look for dry leaves or beside the flower in the summer…etc

    • I don’t have as much time to read now though I suppose a lot of my free time is taken up by blogging 🙂 I don’t want to choose one over the other so my 2020 goal is to find balance! Similar to you I don’t continue with a book if I don’t feel like it. Sometimes I’ll keep it on the shelf and maybe pick it up again, but if I don’t then I’ll give it away 😊 It’s the best way to not feel stressed out by your TBR!

  3. Thank you so much for tagging me! This is such an interesting tag and I will definitely be participating in it (hopefully sooner rather than later 😉 ). Wow, you really do keep a small TBR, please teach me your ways, haha! I’m pretty good about going to the library to get books, but my TBR is pretty out of control…thank you again, and lovely post, Erin. xxx

    • It’s my pleasure! It’s great to hear from you after your break. If I see a book I’m interested in I don’t immediately add it to my TBR, I need to look at it in more detail before I can add it 🙂 Maybe I should post some tips on how to keep a small TBR – I suppose that you among others would be interested in that!
Thank you for being so lovely 😊
      Have a good weekend x
