Granny

I am using the ‘escapril’ prompts to write a couple of blog posts. A slightly poetic, proffesional piece of writing (but by no means perfect).

Describe A Smell – the smell I will describe is that of a granny – most importantly the old, well-used home.

The sweet smell of biscuits, laying in a tin.

A lively dancing fire, beckoning you in.

Cushions well-used, sitting in a wind of dust.

The warm whiff of baking, travelling like a gust.

Breathing in, I can sense the time.

Time ticking on, yet I don’t listen to the chime.

It tells me every hour: how old I am.

And that very soon, I’ll be grieving for my nan.
